Why I made it
I wanted my collection to feel like a collection
I love retro games, but most collection trackers feel like spreadsheets with cover art. I wanted something closer to showing a mate the shelves: the consoles I care about, the odd games I am proud of, and where each one came from.
Collectr.games is a catalogue, but it is also a small public museum for your own collection. You manage the collection once and the same information becomes a page you can share.
How it works
Add the game, then add your bit of its story
You can organise games by console and keep notes on condition, where you found them and when you added them. Cover art, release information, screenshots and summaries fill out the catalogue without you typing all of it yourself.
I have been working on making games quicker to add too. Search, barcode scanning and image identification help match the thing in your hand to the right game.
- Public collection pages organised by console
- Game and hardware records with ownership details
- Barcode scanning and catalogue lookup
- Image-assisted identification for difficult-to-name finds
Where it is going
Useful first, social later
I want to add want lists, trades, offers and collection values later. Those features only matter if keeping the collection up to date is useful on its own.
For now I am concentrating on making the catalogue good and the public pages worth sharing. The marketplace can come after there are real collections to connect.
